Alameda, CA - The West end in 1942

 

 

The image at the left is a close-up view of the West end of Alameda, from a portion of a map made in 1942. Notice Treasure Island and the Alameda Naval Air Station land-fill. The "S.F. Airdorome" field takes up a large area near Webster Street (see SF Bay Airdrome Post Card). Also notice the area from the estuary to Lake Merritt.
